James Emmett Band, is a musical songwriting and production/artist duo consisting of brothers Justin James and Matthew Emmett Geraci. The brothers have had songs placed in hit TV shows such as “Modern Family” and “Dancing with the Stars”. They grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Coming from a strong musical background, Justin and Matthew were introduced to the music scene at an early age. Their father found world-wide success in the late 60’s and 70’s as the singer of two Billboard #1 records, “Precious and Few” and “Time Won’t Let Me”. Justin and Matthew started performing together young, influenced by songwriters Lennon and McCartney, Tom Petty, Brian Wilson, and Bradley Nowell, the duo began to write and produce their own music.
In 2005, Justin was invited to play The Songwriters Circle at the Bitter End in Manhattan. Shortly after his performance he packed a suitcase and headed out west to Los Angeles. After moving to LA, Justin formed the group Grove Hill, joined by his sister Bri Merai on vocals. The group played popular venues in the LA circuit such as The Viper Room, The Mint Club, and The Silverlake Lounge. In 2009, Grove Hill opened for pop star Bruno Mars at the Roxy Theatre on Sunset Blvd. Matthew Emmett joined in 2010, and they signed their first recording contract with independent label 2101 Records with producer RedOne.
In 2016 the brothers went out on their own, forming the James Emmett Band, releasing their first single “Crawl” to YouTube in the summer of 2016. The band's retro rooted, pop driven melodies, and explosive productions gives them a fresh new sound in the music scene.
